In summary: Very large bus station and quite confusing for the visitor.
Review: As a visitor to New York, I have found using the Port Authority bus terminal a bit chaotic and confusing.

We've used the Port Authority to get to the Meadowlands Stadium complex, specifically the Giants Stadium.

Again from a visitor perspective I found that the signage around the bus terminal isn't very good at all. After talking to the locals who have to rely on the terminal and its bus services, they too have told me that it is very chaotic at times.

So my advice is this, if you are in New York and you want to get to say the Meadowlands Stadium Complex, then spend some time prior to your visit doing your research. Do not leave it until the last minute. If you're in NY and you haven't done your research prior to arriving in the city, if possible take a brief trip to the terminal in advance of your trip so you are prepared.

We had done this and were told that extra bus services would be laid on for what was a special event and therefore no amount of research would have helped us as no detailed advance information was available.
