| Description: | It took eight years, five major contractors and the relentless toil and labour of 432 construction workers to complete the building of Tower Bridge, it was finally completed in 1876. Open daily: Open Daily: 1 April - 30 September: 10.am - 6.30pm (last admission 5.30pm) 1 October - 31 March: 9.30am - 6pm (last admission 5pm) Closed 24th and 25th of December Originally this wonderful piece of Victorian engineering was a hydraulically operated bridge, powered by steam, that was until 1976 when electricty and oil replaced steam. |
