Name: Vienna, Austria
Good Points: An absolutely magnificent city with wonderful buildings, art galleries and museums.
Bad Points: Quite expensive so go prepared. The Jewish Museum (see review below)
Review: A most convivial city, easy to navigate especially on foot or bicycle, which the city appears to encourage. There also appears to be a lack of maniacal drivers unlike in other European capital cities.

Vienna is the birthplace of the café society on which it still leaves other cities standing. There are churches of every description and buildings that take the breath away. It even boasts to have the oldest amusement park (the Prater) in the World. However, most visitors only go here to see the Ferris wheel made famous by the film 'The Third Man'.

Vienna is undoubtedly a city worth a visit. It has wonderful parks and gardens dispersed liberally around the city centre, a welcome rest for all the sightseeing and fantastic palaces, art galleries and museums.

Let’s not forget that Vienna gave us some of the most famous composers too. All visits to this city should include some form of cultural experience at the concert halls or the opera. There are also frequent free concerts held at the Statdpark.

One extremely disappointing aspect of my visit to Vienna was the Jewish museum. On show are some artefacts, some even in hologram form but no mention of Austria’s role in the pre-war persecution of the thriving Jewish community. No mention of the burning and razing to the ground of 42 of Vienna’s 43 synagogues on Kristallnacht. No acknowledgement and certainly no apology was evident.

After such a fantastic time here it seems a shame to end on such a note, call me pedantic if you wish but I found it to be totally insincere. I would be interested to view other people’s opinions.
